Tatchell dedicates award to the people of Ukraine

Peter Tatchell receives Lifetime Achievement Award

London, UK – 10 March 2020

A Lifetime Achievement Award has been given to LGBT+ and human rights campaigner Peter Tatchell, Director of the Peter Tatchell Foundation.

The honour was bestowed by the British Diversity Awards in London on Thursday 10 March 2022.

In his acceptance speech, he said:

“Looking around this room tonight, you are all inspirational change-makers and all deserve an award. I pay tribute to the many people I’ve worked with over the last 55 years of my campaigning. I do my bit but it’s never been me alone. What I’ve helped achieve has been a collective effort.

“Together, we’ve won extraordinary social changes, though more remains to be done.”

Speaking after the ceremony, Mr Tatchell said:

“I dedicate this award to the people of Ukraine who are heroically resisting Russian imperialist aggression. Their fight against Putin’s neo-fascism and warmongering is our fight.”
